Is micropigmentation the same as microblading?Microblading is a hand held tool that creates hair strokes with a blade, you have one top and and one future top up, you should not have any more sessions due tothe nature of the blade, this can cause trauma. I is only suitable for younger normal skins types. Micropigmentation uses a digital device with disposable cartridge needles. You can have hairstrokes and a powder brow. You have one retouch 6 weeks later then a colour boost once a year or less, depending on your skin type.

Eyebrow Micropigmentation
Gaps can be filled in your brows by micropigmentation, whether it be hair strokes or a soft shaded brow. You do not have to shave your eyebrows off beforehand,
Please note: I cannot work over very satuated eyebrows from previous work, you may need laser removal . Previous work that has faded can be worked over but cant be guanteed full coverage.
A template is created with calipers for you to see, the pigment will be initially dark to start with, it will heal up to 40 % lighter as it settles in the skin when healing.
There is little downtime, they may be tender, a bit red and swollen, expect light flaking or crusting after a few days.
Lifestyle factors such as smoking and not looking after your skin e.g no spf can cause uneven results.
The perfecting retouch would be around the 6 weeks marks after the initial treatment, we can add any tweaks to the brows such as bigger or darker. Do expect some gaps , especially where you have no hair folicles, this is normal. Over plucked or alopecea clients may have to return for a third treatment
You must follow the aftercare I will give you to enable even and trouble free healing, an aftercare kit is given to you with instructions.
Longterm : wear an SPF 40 in the winter 50 in the summer.
you will need an annual colour boost once every 1/2/3 years.

Restorative Areola Micropigmentation ( Tattooing )
Aimed for breast cancer survivors post mastectomy, breast augmentation and breast reduction surgery and gender affirming. All surgery scars must be healed and approximatly a year old. Chemotherapy must be finished at least 6 weeks before, I may require a letter from your surgeon or oncologist. I will create a template for you to see and we will discuss colours.
The area must be covered for 5 days ( i will give you dressings along with the aftercare kit )A perfecting retouch is required 8 weeks later. You have a choice of paying as a private paying patient or have it free as a model during my teaching.

I have had breast cancer, When
Can I have Restorative Areola tattooing?

-
Ideally, it is best to wait between 12/18 months after surgery until the skin's scar tissue has healed, sometimes longer as each individual is different.
-
Scars will benefit from a course of micro needling which will encourage your natural skin pigment into the area, flatten fibrous scars, reduce tightness and prepares the scar for camouflage.
-
6 months after Chemotherapy / Radiotherapy.
-
Your immune system may be put under a lot of strain in trying to heal a tattoo too early, especially after such strong medication

-
Nipple sparing grafts may have to wait up to two years for the scar to heal fully, depending on the individual. The tissue here is delicate so tattooing on this area too soon may cause trauma.
-
The wait is normally 6 months after non nipple sparing mastectomy.
-
For Bilateral mastectomy we will create a template and colour swatches for the new areola and nipples
-
For unilateral we will match the your existing shape and colour as much as possible.

-
You will come back 8 weeks after the area has healed to review the tattoo, we can add some more detail and perfect and patchiness and colour fading.
-
Caroline only uses REACH compliant and cruelty free pigments and inks and has a range of colours that will suit all skin colours.
-

Q ) Does the tattooing hurt?

A) If you have any senstation around the nipple area, you may want to apply emla numbing cream 20 minutes before.
The area will be tender to touch after the treatment, this is completely normal.

Q) Why do i need to come back for a retouch?

A) The retouch appointment will be 8 weeks after,
the skin will shed over 4/6 weeks and will take pigment along with it, it is better for the skin to take time with shorter treatments, this will be less traumatic for the skin. The retouch appointment we can add more detail and add or darken the colours if needed. You may need a colour boost two years, depending on your skin.

Q) What is the aftercare?

A)You will be given an aftercare home kit that contains an information leaflet, dressings and a natural healing balm. You will keep the area covered for 7 days.Everything will be verbally explained to you and you will have full support after the procedure.

Q) Can I bathe and swim after the procedure?

A) No long soaks in the bathe and swimming is allowed for two weeks as well as heat treatments. No exercise for 48 hours.
Long term use, please use a barrier cream on the area if you are a regular swimmer.
